About Northwest Expedition Academy

Northwest Expedition Academy, or NEXA for short, is a K-5 public school in the Coeur d'Alene School District 271. Our school was founded in 2017 at the historic Hayden Lake Elementary School with a small group of students and hard-working educators that committed to embarking on a very different learning journey that wasn't yet offered in North Idaho. NEXA is the only public elementary school in the Inland Northwest that offers Project-Based and Expeditionary learning. In 2020 NEXA opened it's doors at it's new location at 2008 W. Prairie Avenue in Coeur d'Alene with a new beautiful two-story building.
