2020-2021 Dalton Art with Mrs. Portue

Dalton Elementary School Community, my name is Mia Portue. This will be my third year at Dalton Elementary as one of our Art Specialists. We have an exciting art program this year.  Students will engage in small group STEAM projects, ceramics, drawing and painting. We have added a kiln. All students will have the unique opportunity to learn handbuilding with clay. It is my desire that every student enjoys creating original artwork and exploring a wide variety of mediums.

I am a graduate of Bethany University in Santa Cruz, California with a Bachelors in General Studies and Elementary Teaching Credential. I have recently completed the Gifted Education Specialty Endorsement through Whitworth University. My family has lived in Coeur d'Alene for over sixteen years. This summer I enjoyed spending time with my 2020 college graduates, Heather and Tiffany. My husband, Steve and I just took a short trip to White Fish, Montana and Glacier National Park to celebrate our 26th anniversary.

I am looking forward to a wonderful school year of creativity and new learning experiences.
