Hello!
My name is Zachary Williamson, and this is my fourth year teaching at Lake City High School. I teach two sections of Dual Credit English 101/175, three sections of Dual Credit English 102/258, and AP Literature and Composition. This is my eighth year teaching overall, and I have really enjoyed settling into teaching here in Coeur d'Alene.
I graduated from the University of Idaho in 2015 with a B.A. in English with a Teaching Emphasis and a B.S. in Secondary Education. After I completed undergrad, I decided to immediately pursue a Master's Degree in Teaching English as a Second Language at the University of Idaho where I had the opportunity to teach and work at the university's Writing Center. I completed my M.A. in Teaching English as a Second Language in 2017, and I also completed my M.A. in English Rhetoric and Composition in 2018. I spent four years total at the University of Idaho teaching a variety of composition courses including: Technical Writing, Rhetoric and Composition, Personal Exploratory Writing, and many others.
In the classroom, I focus my pedagogy on building connections with my students. From the beginning of the semester, I build trust with my students by being open with sharing my own experiences with learning, including both successes and struggles, to show my students that I am a person who has been in their place. With this trust, I push myself to get to know students on an individual basis so that I can build rapport and mutual respect with them, which creates a positive and constructive classroom environment. I feel that it is essential for me as a teacher to get to know the interests, goals, and dreams of the students I am teaching so I can be better prepared to attend to their needs as they go through the rigors and demands of their coursework.
Outside of school, I love to cook and collect vinyl records. Please contact me via email if you have any questions or concerns: zwilliamson@cdaschools.org
