Automated External Defibrillators (AEDS)

  • This video explains the operation of the Zoll Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) that have been distributed in the Coeur d'Alene Public Schools, largely thanks to the generosity of the Heart Safe organization. We hope to have our remaining schools equipped with AEDs by the end of 2018.

AEDs are currently found in the following schools: Lake City High School, Coeur d'Alene High School, Lakes Magnet Middle School, Canfield Middle School, Woodland Middle School, Atlas Elementary, Borah Elementary, Bryan Elementary, Dalton Elementary, Fernan STEM Academy, Hayden Meadows Elementary, Ramsey Elementary

In the event of a medical emergency, 911 should be called and AEDs should be part of emergency response equipment brought to the scene.  The AEDs have voice prompts and provide step-by-step instructions for proper operation. Be sure to follow voice prompt instructions to ensure maximum effectiveness and safety of the victim, rescuer, and bystanders.
