Welcome to my page! I teach 6th grade English Language Arts and 6th Grade Science at Lakes Middle School.
Prior to joining the team at Lakes, I taught for three years in Minnesota. I taught 5th grade English Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies. Additionally, I worked as a reading and math interventionist for grades 1-4. I recieved my Bachelor's in Elementary Education from Minnesota State University, Mankato in 2013. I went back to school for my Master's in Curriculum and Instruction with a K-12 Reading Endorsement and graduated in 2018.
Some interesting things about me are that I love theater and performing. I worked as a play-by-play announcer for a professional snowmobile race circuit for 6 years. I also hosted a television show that focused on the world of snowmobiling. In my previous district, I was the assistant director for the theater department and I coached competitive speech. My husband and I enjoy recreating in the outdoors as much as possible. We love taking our two dogs, Dutch and Poncho, for hikes as often as possible.
My favorite thing about teaching is developing positive relationships with my students. I strive to make meaningful connections and enjoy each other's strengths. Outside of developing relationships, I enjoy teaching (and continually learning) about history! My favorite time period is Medieval to Renassiance Europe. I am a voracious reader and usually have a book by my side at all times.
