"Talent is a pursued interest. Anything that you're willing to practice, yo ucan do." ~Bob Ross
I wanted to take a quick moment to introduce myself. I am Kerry McGrath, and the new art teacher at NExA. I am very excited to be a part of this dynamic team of teachers and learners.
I am a North Idaho native, although, I spent some time growing up in The Dalles, Or. I have three grown kids and a beautiful grandson.
I have been teaching in the classroom for 13 years (1st-5th grades, mostly 3rd). I have a Master's Degree in Arts Integrated Curriculum and Instruction. Art is a passion of mine, and I deeply believe that inclusion of arts into what kids learn is powerful!
This year your child will learn the Elements of Art, how to talk about art, to believe in themselves as artists (they are!), and to work together. It is critical that we are positive influences on our peers. Art is deeply personal, and we want to foster artist who are willing to share who they are through art.
My goal is that each student realize they are an artist, are willing to take risks, and know that they can do anything-it just takes practice!
I teach on Mondays and Wednesdays at NExA, and I welcome volunteers!!! Please look for your child's art work (coming soon) on Artsonia. This is a great place to share their work and support the art room. Student work will go home periodically throughout the year-you will get the 'originals'!
