School Meal Program Changes
IMPORTANT CHANGE IN SCHOOL MEALS AT BRYAN ELEMENTARY
Starting this school year, the Coeur d’Alene School District is making changes to the breakfast program at Bryan Elementary School.
Previously, ALL STUDENTS attending Bryan were welcome to eat breakfast at NO CHARGE.
- Students who qualify for free meals will continue to receive breakfast at NO CHARGE.
- Students who qualify for reduced priced meals will pay 30 cents for breakfast.
To receive free or reduced-price meals, families need to fill out an application at the start of each school year. To see the income eligibility for free/reduced-price meals, and to download an application, go to www.cdaschools.org/mealapp.
- All other students will pay the same rate as students at other schools in the district: $1.60 for breakfast.
Why are we making this change?
Bryan previously was eligible for the federal Community Eligibility Program, which allows all students to eat breakfast at no charge.
This year, with the improving economy, the number of students who qualify for free breakfast has declined. The Board of Trustees for the School District voted Aug. 6 to convert the CEP program at Bryan and other schools to match the meal program at other schools in the district.
Bryan has received the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program Grant for this year. The school will continue to provide after-school snacks at no charge.
