Greetings and Salutations!
My name is Ben Dodson, and I am eager and excited to become a member of the Canfield Middle School Language Arts Team. I am a graduate of Lewis-Clark State College where I earned a BS Degree in Elementary Education and an endorsement as a Reading Specialist (K-12 Literacy). This will be my first official year teaching and I can't imagine being anywhere but here at Canfield. I was a student here from 2004-2007, afterall!
While earning my credential, I worked in the Coeur d’Alene School District for three years as a substitute teacher. My experiences include long-term teaching positions in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade mathematics classrooms here at Canfield as well as 4th and 5th grade teaching positions at Skyway Elementary and Sorensen Elementary.
The Language Arts curriculum, in many cases, is taking on a new identity this school year. The district-adopted Study Sync curriculum will be a rich and fruitful new resource for our students and I look forward to all the unique and powerful ways that it will be utilized to make the time students spend in the classroom as engaging and valuable as possible.
Through the use of inclusion, hands-on learning, and taking on the role as a mutual learner, I will create an educational environment that not only stimulates the minds of students during class, but also cultivates and nurtures a genuine desire to explore and internalize all that the world around us has to offer.
Please feel encouraged to contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns that you may have.
Let's get this show on the road!
