Security Measures in our Schools

  • BUZZ-IN ENTRY DOORS

During school hours school building entries are locked. Visitors are only allowed to enter through the front doors of the main building and must present themselves to a camera and push a button to request entry.

    VISITOR POLICY

Any visitor to a school during school hours are required to present a driver's license (ID only required for the first visit of each school year) so that office staff may run them through our Raptor software. Raptor uses information from the visitor's driver’s license or state ID card to check the sex offender database from all 50 states, including Idaho and saves their name in the data system. Once cleared, visitors are required to wear a visitors pass/badge while on site to identify them to building staff.

    BACKGROUND CHECKS

All Coeur d'Alene Public Schools employees, and some volunteers are subject to comprehensive background checks.

    SEX OFFENDER INFORMATION

During school hours, visitors to all Coeur d'Alene Public Schools are subjected to a check through our Raptor system. The Raptor software uses information from the visitor's driver’s license or state ID card to check the sex offender database from all 50 states, including Idaho.

    CONTROLLED ACCESS

Exterior building doors are remotely controlled and monitored. This allows for quicker response time in the event of an emergency where doors need to be accessed or locked. Additionally, playgrounds and exterior hallways are campuses enclosed by fences on most campuses.

    EMPLOYEE IDENTIFICATION

All staff members are required to wear identification badges while on district property and at district events.

    VIDEO CAMERAS

We have security cameras operating throughout our schools to monitor activity inside and out. Captured video images have also aided our investigations into criminal activities in and around our schools.

    DRILLS & TRAINING

All schools conduct regular drills in fire evacuation and all-hazard mitigation. All employees receive training in school emergency response plans, which are evaluated and updated annually.
