"Hello! I'm Ms. Rafa, the art teacher at Skyway Elementary. Art has always been a great passion of mine and so incredibly important to me. It gives us a channel through which we can most genuinely express ourselves. Through the visual arts, students have the opportunity to express their feelings, relieve stress, gain self-discipline, and build work ethics, teamwork, plus so much more. I'm honored and so excited to share this with every child in our school. If you haven't checked out Artsonia, our virtual art portfolio, please do! I was raised in Bellevue, WA and moved to beautiful Coeur d'Alene in 2012. I graduated from Lewis-Clark State College in 2017 with my Bachelors in Elementary Education. I received my Masters in Educational Leadership from the University of Idaho in 2021. I have two beautiful children, my 7 year old son, Hunter, and 5 year old daughter, Kobra, I love to experience life with.
"Art is not always about pretty things. It's about who we are, what happened to us, and how our lives are affected." -Elizabeth Broun"
