The National PTA's mission is to make every child's potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children.
The NExA PTA strives to be a unifying link between families and school staff. We aren't just a fundraising organization - we strive to advocate for the entire NExA Community. You can participate as much or as little as you would like, but by joining the PTA you are in a better position to be informed about NExA and help our students succeed.
Membership:Membership is $10 per person for the year. A portion of the dues are sent to the National and State PTA, and a portion stays right here at NExA.

The 2023-2024 PTA Executive Board
Laura Nelson, PTA President: This is my 9th year at NEXA, having both my children attend and participate in the only PBL public school in our community has been an amazing experience. I have served on the board in the past, starting the PTA 5013C in 2017 when the school opened. At that time I served as the Treasurer, acting president and Business Liaison. I am very excited for the new school year and would love to get as many parents involved in this amazing school as possible. We would love to hear from you, and have great volunteer opportunities available.
Cynthia McAllister, Vice President: I’m a mother of two amazing little girls. My five year old is thrilled to be a kindergartner here at Nexa and my three-year-old insists that she’s a 3rd grader at Nexa as well. This will be my first year as a member of the PTA and I am just so excited to serve our community and to celebrate our children together.
Shana Wright, Secretary: I have a background in bookkeeping and project management and I am a parent to a NExA kindergartener. I am a small business owner, a stained glass artist, and an avid reader. I enjoy gardening and I am always up for trying a new recipe or going on an outdoor adventure. I am the kind of person who likes to get involved and being new to the NExA Family, I am excited to bring my organization and communication skills to the PTA.
Vanessa Kale, Treasurer: I am a parent of a Nexa 2nd and 5th grader, as well as a LCHS 9th grader. This is my 2nd year as treasure for Nexa, but I’ve been a dedicated volunteer in the district for 10 years.
Meetings:
Our General Membership Meetings are once a month right after school at 3:45 in the school library. These meetings are open to the public and cover a variety of topics each month. There are lots of ways to get involved and make a difference in our school. We have great information from the school administration during the meetings as well. They run an hour and allow for open discussion from parents and teachers. Please come and see what we are all about!
PTA Ambassadors:
If you have questions or need help navigating the world of PBLs, Expeditions, or Exhibition Nights – we would love to help! Please email nexapta@gmail.com to be put in touch with one of our PTA Ambassadors – seasoned NExA Parents that can teach you all about the special school and community at NExA!
If you are a seasoned parent and would like to serve as a PTA Ambassador, please email us: nexapta@gmail.com
Fundraising:
During the 2023/24 school year we are launching a "Sponsor a day Calendar fundraiser." Each student can participate to raise money and win great school wide celebrations for multiple levels of dollars raised. This is a no nonsense fundraiser that requires very little from each family. Donations can also be made by donating online with the QRcode above or a simple check. Businesses can donate, the PTA has a 5013c donation exemption that can be provided. Donations can be made at any time throughout the year.
Please plan to see advertisements for “Dine Out” nights where we earn a portion of the proceeds if you eat at a certain restaurant.
Spirit wear will be available this year for families to join into the school pride. We are working with a new vendor to mix it up and offer new items. The PTA receives a percentage back from each order.
Triple Play Nights are also a huge fundraiser for our PTA. We host two a year and the more attendees we have from our school the more money we receive in return to our school. Come Play at TRIPLE PLAY!
Fundraising allows us to provide much needed funding for so many important school programs. The PTA has funded the mural in the main lunch area, field trips, teacher appreciation week, teacher grants, special programs and many other important items for our school.
Getting involved with your local public school PTA is a great way to give back to the community and stay informed about your child and the environment they are in every day! Contact us today!
