Mrs. Pelton
My name is Diane Pelton and I am your child's Physical Education teacher this year here at NExA. I am very excited to work with the entire school as we work towards a healthier community!
Here’s a little bit of information about me…
I started teaching in 2001. I have a B.A. in Psychology and returned to school to earn my K-8 Multiple Subject credential and my Physical Education credential shortly after that. During the first 7 years of my teaching career, I served as a Special Education teacher, 4th grade teacher, a Reading and Math Interventionist, and an ELD teacher. In 2008, I began teaching K-5 Physical Education as well as coaching track & field and cross country and I’ve been doing it ever since!
I spent my first 20 years of teaching with the Weaver Union School District in Merced, CA. I moved to Kootenai County in 2021 and love the beauty of North Idaho. I’m married to my husband, David and he’s a Land Surveyor. I have three children (two daughters, Sidney and Taylor and one son, DJ). I love to play softball, volleyball, pickleball, and I also enjoy doing many other activities with my family and friends in my spare time. I have recently been enjoying hiking and paddleboarding with my family and taking my great dane, Bambi for walks.
As your NExA Physical Education teacher, I am excited to have the opportunity to equip students with knowledge, skills, and values along with enthusiasm to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Your child should expect a fun and very active year in P.E. as we introduce new and exciting skills and games as well as learn about health and the benefits of exercise. I will also emphasize the importance of sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect for others. I look forward to partnering with you in order to help your child enjoy movement and learn how to live a healthy lifestyle that can continue into adulthood.
