I am a Coeur d'Alene native, born and raised. I graduated from CHS, I received my Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from Brigham Young University and my Master's degree in Integrated Teaching Through the Arts from Lesley University. I returned to the classroom in 2004. I began teaching music at Skyway in 2018.
I play the piano, flute, and organ. I have attempted the trombone, french horn, saxophone, and snare drum. I also taught private piano lessons for 12 years. I have always had a passion for music and firmly believe in the ability of music to engage, aide and power learning. Consequently, all my children had to play an instrument through middle and high school. I used songs and chants in my first grade and preschool classrooms for teaching, transitions, and to give directions. I believe that every child should have positive experiences with music. I look forward to what this year will bring for me and your children.
I enjoy gardening, running, swimming, singing, playing the piano, reading, baking, canning, and spending time with my husband and four kids (plus two daughters-in-law, one son-in-law, and my grandson and grand-daughter!)
I love teaching and watching those light bulb moments of discovery, understanding and newly discovered passion. I feel it a privledge to be part of your and your children's lives. Together we will make it a great year!
