    6th Grade Rocks

Hello, my name is Sydney Smyly, and welcome to my 6th grade class! I am looking forward to another year of teaching Language Arts, Social Studies and Academic Enrichment. I am also very excited to coach Cross Country, the 8th grade girls basketball team (A), and Track and Field this upcoming year.

I am a born and raised Coeur d' Alene girl. I completed my K-12 education in this very district, and treasured the time when I myself was here at Lakes during my 6th through 8th grade years. After graduating from Lake City High School I immediately attended the University of Idaho (GO VANDALS!) where I obtained my Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary Education with an endorsement in ESL (English as a Second Language) and a certification in Middle School Language Arts. Outside of school I enjoy spending time with my family and wonderful husband.

If I have one piece of advice for incoming 6th graders it is this: Get involved! Whether that be a sport (come run with me this fall!), club, band, choir, play, ANYTHING! It is such a great way to meet new people and become comfortable with your new school.

Looking forward to an awesome year!

    Sincerely,
    Mrs. Smyly

  • Advice for the first week of school:

Come excited (new school, new faces, new opportunities for greatness), come proud (you are 6th graders now!), and come hungry to learn and have fun!
