Welcome to our 4th grade classroom!

I am thrilled to be your child's 4th grade teacher. We have a lot of great things to learn together.  This marks the begining of my 20th year of teaching in the CDA School District. I've taught most elementary grades, including K, 1st, 2nd, 4th, and Title 1 Reading. 4th grade has always been my favorite, and I am excited to be back with the bigger kids, teaching exciting things in math, science, history and of course, reading and writing.

My hobbies include playing the piano, reading (mysteries are my favorites), boating (boat days are the best days), and watching my kids play all of their sports. I have 4 children, so that's a lot of sports to watch.

4th grade is full of super cool learning! We have Idaho history with Lewis and Clark Expedition, Native American History, Mountain Men and Mining, and more! Math concepts explode! Long division, triple digit multiplication, fractions, geometry, etc.!  We will use thinking strategies and learn how our mind works, to help us study and learn. It's an amazing year!

My main mission in teaching is to build a classroom community of trust and encouragement, a safe place for all to learn more, take risks and build confidence in ourselves as learners and friends.

I hope you will communicate with me often.  My door is always open.

P.S. Supplies... All of the supplies are important, but we especially need the writing journals, whether spiral or composition notebooks. We use them daily. All of the kids need a pencil box for their supplies, as I use tables, not desks. Each student will have a classroom cubby for books and supplies. We share pencils, but everything else can be labelled.  We really do use markers, crayons, scissors and glue. If its on the list, we use it. Thank you for getting all the supplies for your student.
