• Welcome to my webpage!  This is my sixth year teaching at Coeur d'Alene High School.  I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the California State University at Chico, lived in Hailey, Idaho for a few years, and then spent 17 years teaching English, history, and yearbook in Northern California and two years teaching 8th grade language arts at Woodland Middle School here in Coeur d'Alene. My husband and I have three children:  Lily is 18, Matthew is 17, and William Atticus is 10.  We enjoy pretty much all outdoor activities, especially hiking and fishing.

I teach English 9, English 11, and Reading Boost 11.  I post almost all lessons and assignments on Schoology. It also has links to websites we use, like vocabulary.com, under the "Materials" tab.  To help your child be successful in my class, please remind them of the following:

    • Independent reading is required at the beginning of every class.
    • Vocabulary.com is almost always available to study.  This is a good homework activity. Quizzes are about every two weeks and are 20 points each.
    • Due dates are posted on Schoology.
    • Most work may be redone for a higher grade during the current unit.  Larger assignments, like projects and essays, may be redone until two weeks before the end of the semester.

Get Remind messages by texting the following codes to 81010:  English 9 code =  @fgc723 and English 11 code = @dhcdb8

Please contact me with any questions or concerns.  I am generally more accessible by email: jgardner@cdaschools.org
