Hello Ramsey Third Graders and Families to the 2018/2019 school year!
My name is Steve Blee and I am very excited to be spending this amazing year with my new teaching team in third grade here at Ramsey Magnet School of Science! This year will be my sixth year at Ramsey, and my seventh year of teaching in the Coeur d'Alene School District, with my first being at the Pathways Program, teaching middle school. For the past five years, I have had a blast teaching fifth graders here at Ramsey, and I cannot begin to describe how excited I am to dive into third grade this year!
Third grade is going to be a blast this year! In my class, students will strive for excellence daily, through hands-on exploration of the third grade Idaho Core Curriculum, while working in an engaging, but safe classroom environment. What does that mean exactly?? Well, how I like to think of it, we are going to be having a lot of fun while we learn! I am a firm believer that students will take more away from a lesson that manages to engage their minds in fun and dynamic ways, so I strive to bring that to students everyday, in multiple ways! That being said, I am the guide on this third grade adventure, and I hold my students responsible for making sure learning takes place every day.
My mission is to help your son or daughter have the best year of elementary school, while properly preparing them for the real world through the use of transferable skills! I am aware that every student enters our room coming from a different set of experiences and this is what makes everyone so special. I want to reach every student on their level and help them grow. All students need to know that there is always room to grow! Students who show up ready to go and eager to learn will get that and so much more out of my class!
I graduated from the University of Idaho in 2012 with my Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education. I student taught first and fourth grades at Atlas Elementary School. When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time out on the lake! I have spent many summers working as a water safety instructor, helping children, teens, and adults improve their abilities in the water. I have also worked as a lifeguard for almost 10 years, with a majority of those being at Honeysuckle Beach on Hayden Lake. I enjoy swimming immensely; it is one of my favorite ways to stay active, and I love playing water polo, too! In the winter, I love to go skiing! Above all else, I enjoy spending time with family and friends (I have three brothers!!), and I look forward to any future adventures that life will throw at me!
This year at Ramsey Magnet School of Science will be a true adventure for all of us, and I look forward to getting it started!
