Welcome Vikings! I am Don Walters.
This is me in front of Kokanee Glacier in BC, Canada. I teach AP US Government and Politics and American Government.
I have been at CHS since 1999. I have previously lived in Boise, ID, Eugene, OR, Spokane, WA, Seattle, WA, and Scenic, WA where I was born. Incidentally, Scenic is a town that no longer exists. It was at the west portal of the Cascade Tunnel near Stevens Pass, WA. After attending North Central HS in Spokane I joined the US Air Force where I was a B-52 Defensive Aerial Gunner. Then I attended college at the University of Washington in Seattle, WA. I graduated with a BA in Political Science. After college I managed a restaurant, then a janitorial company and worked as a sales rep for a company called BMS in Spokane. In 1995 I started as a ski instructor where I discovered a passion for teaching and helping people learn something new. I am still a weekend ski instructor at Schweitzer Mountain in Sandpoint, ID. I went back to college at Boise State to get a secondary teaching certificate and am very fortunate to be able to do what I love for a career.
I have visited 28 states plus Guam, Washington D.C, Belize, Canada, China, Antigua, Puerto Rico, Iles des Saintes, Guadeloupe and Dominica.
I enjoy skiing, running, cycling, hunting, fishing and own several vintage motorbikes.
I was a coach for cross country and track for 23 years and am a starting official for many of the local track meets.
I have four kids, Daniel CHS class of 2016, Kellen 2017, Evan 2020, and WuYi 2022, and am married to my high school sweetheart of 33 years, Jolene.
