• Welcome to the 2019-2020 School Year!!!

Welcome to Lakes Middle School and Mrs. Brown's 6th grade Social Studies class!  We will study ancient civilizations: Ancient Mesopotamia, Ancinet India, Ancient China, Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome.  We will review the states and how to spell them first quarter and learn the Middle Eastern countries second quarter.

    A little bit about me....

I have been at Lakes a really long time... currently I live in the woods south of town with my husband Bob.   We have been married since 1982 and we have two grown children.  We started out in Billings Montana and moved to Coeur d'Alene in 1990.   I am a grandma to my son's  three beautiful boys. My daughter is married and is expecting my 4th grandchild in August 2020!

I love learning especially learning about the world we live in past and present.  This year we are going to focus on applying G.R.A.P.E.S. to our ancient civilizations. G.R.A.P.E.S refers to Georgraphy, Religion, Achievements, Political System, Economics and Social Structure.

A word about 6th grade Exploratory:  Exploratory is an opportunity for students to experience different contents and meet upper grade level teachers. Exploratory is during 3 or 5th period depending on the teacher and where they are on the schedule.  For half the teachers they will have Exploratory 3rd period, lunch and then a content class 5th period.  The other half of the sixth grade teachers will teach a content class 3rd period, Exploratory and the lunch.

The following are Exploratory offerings:   PE, Digital Citizenship, Sources of Strength, Art, Woodshop.

Advisory is on Monday and Friday mornings.  Most sixth grade students have 1st period class as their Advisory class.

Discovery Classes are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Trail Creek for the 2020-2021 school year will be slightly different than in years past. Details will be given in the fall.
