• Who would have thought the last day we were doing in-person teaching was March 12th, 2020.  I'm sure just about everybody believed that this Pandemic would run it's course and we would soon be back to school.  It's now September 14th, 2020 and we are starting our 1st day of hybrid learning for our students.  I can comfortably say that our teachers are much more prepared for this endeavor this fall than we were in the Spring.  Sinc March, we have undergone neary 30 hours of professional development to learn what it means to teach in an online environment.  We have also purchase a new learning management system called SCHOOLOGY to better help us engage our students and parents in the online world.  I am confident our students and teachers will rise to the challenge and the 2020-2021 school year will move education in a positive direction for years to come.

For those of you new to Lakes Middle School, I am beginning my 29th year as an educator.  Upon graduating from the University of Idaho, I started my teaching career as a high school math teacher in Chewelah, Washington.  Wanting to further my education background, i recieved my Masters in Ed. Leadership from Whitworth University and made the transition to Coeur d'Alene where I served as the assistant principal at Coeur d'Alene High School for 3 years.  I moved on to the principalship at Canfield Middle School where I spent 10 years.  The last 9 years of my career have been some of my favorite as I have worked with some of the most dedicated staff ever at Lakes Middle School.

I have never worked with a more dedicated group of educators who work tirelessly every day to help all of our students be successful both in and out of the classroom.  I look forward to meeting all of you when we can take off our masks and shake hands again.  Until that time, know that your students are in good hands with the staff at Lakes Middle School
