Hello and welcome to Dalton's ALP (Advanced Learning Program) !  My name is Joy Shoup and this is my twelfth year teaching at Dalton. I taught first grade for five years, then fifth grade for four years, and now this is my third year in ALP.  Before Dalton, I also taught at Atlas Elementary, a school overseas in Okinawa, Japan, a private Christian school, and homeschooled our own four children.  My diverse and adventurous background has prepared me to be able to pour into these advanced learners and challenge them with in depth curriculum, engaging activities,  and creative projects.  I have been characterized as a fun, enthusiastic teacher, but I also like to have focused students that are able and willing to put forth extra effort to achieve high expectations.  I look forward to meeting you in person one day soon!
