Welcome to the Bryan Elementary Library!
Hello! My name is Jessica Levy and I am thrilled to be the librarian at Bryan Elementary. I attended Bryan Elementary as a student way back in the 80s. My children attended Bryan from 2008- 2017. Bryan will always have a special place in my heart, and I eagerly share my love for this school with all students. I hope our students feel loved at our school, and I hope they love us back!
I am a graduate of the University of Idaho (B.S., plant science). Go Vandals! My favorite things in life are my family, pets, forests, books, and spending time with kids. The best part of my job is getting to know every student at Bryan. I truly cherish the connections I make with students.
I feel so lucky that I get to spend my days reading and recommending books to kids. Alice Hoffman said "Books may be the only true magic", and I believe that to be true. Nothing immerses us in a story like a book. Nothing inspires new ideas like stories. It is my honor to help students harness the power of books by guiding them to the ones that for them hold magic.
It is of utmost importance that our library collection represents the reading levels and areas of interest of ALL of our students. Guidance is given to our students as to reading level and content appropriateness, but parents and guardians must play an important role in guiding their child's choices in the library. Please talk with your child about the books he or she is reading. The books in our library represent a wide range of maturity and interest levels to meet the needs of all students.
Library Policies
* Every student has a 45 minute scheduled library class time each week.
* There are also "Open Library" times during the week when kids can come and get a new book.
* All lost or damaged books need to be paid for, or replaced with the same title of equal value (hardcover for hardcover, paperback for paperback).
* Late fees are never charged in our library. Books are generally returned at the next week's library time, but I will always encourage students to keep the book until they are done with it! The only exception is if another student is waiting for the same book, and then I might give a gentle nudge. It is far more important to me that the book is read, rather than turned in on time.

We will begin visiting the library and checking out of books the second week of school. So Sept. 9th - 13 your child will come with their class and learn the rules of our library.
