Hello! My name is Katie Palmer and I am thrilled to be teaching 5th grade at Sorensen Magnet School for the Arts and Humanities! This is my ninth year of teaching at Sorensen and I'm always excited to try new things in the areas of theater and improv acting. I also teach basic theater skills and improv acting during our Arts and Humanities rotation. I feel so privileged to teach at a school that not only provides specific arts and humanities classes, but also challenges teachers to infuse the arts into the regular curriculum. The result is a deep and authentic experience for students and teachers alike.
I grew up in Missoula, Montana and have been fortunate to live in the Coeur d’Alene area for the past few years. On the weekends, I enjoy being with my husband, Randy, our funny preschooler named Max and our goofy dog, Rufous the Red. We love traveling, hiking, watching movies, and checking out books from my mom at the Coeur d’Alene Public Library.
I look forward to the adventures and experiences we'll share throughout the school year ahead! If you have any questions, suggestions, or concerns, please contact me.
