    Child Care: Chris Douglas
Venture's child care center opened in 1981 to assist teen parents who were attending the school.
The goal of the center is to provide high-quality child care for teen parents while they attend classes in pursuit of their high school diplomas.  Lack of affordable child care is a large contributor to the high dropout rate among teen parents.

The child care center provides free care for all teen parents who are enrolled at Venture High School.  The age of the children at the center ranges from infant to 3 years, with an occaisonal 4 or 5 year old.  The number of children in the center varies from year to year, with an average of 8-10, and a maximum enrollment of 15.

The center is fully licensed with the City of Coeur d'Alene, and as such meets all annual licensing requirements including health inspection, education certification of adult staff members, safety standards, and city required staffing ratios per child.

The center also provides training for the work experience portion of the Early Childhood Professions program.  The Early Childhood Professions course trains Project students who have an interest in child care as a career opportunity.
