    Consent for Counseling

School counseling is available to students who may need support during the school day, such as students experiencing family changes, peer conflict, crisis, emotion dysregulation, etc. School counseling services are provided through a tiered approach with a large focus on being proactive: classroom lessons twice per month, small group counseling for students who require additional intervention, and individual school counseling for those in crisis or needing individualized support.

For students needing practice and intervention to learn social skills, regulate emotions, or receive peer support, these needs can often be met within a small group. Students requiring 1:1 time with the counselor will receive individualized intervention to meet their needs. Students experiencing social-emotional or behavioral issues and referred for group or individual support may benefit from practicing coping strategies to help them regulate at school or psycho-education to teach about an area of concern (anxiety, anger, zones of regulation, grief/loss, conflict resolution, etc.).

Individual services are brief and meant to help students be able to learn better in school. Individual school counseling is not provided in the same manner as community counseling and your student may be referred out if there are greater needs that cannot be met in the school setting.
