CDA Backpack Program
The CDA Backpack Program provides a regular supply of nutritious food for children when school breakfast and lunch is unavailable during weekends or school holidays. Each food pack contains 2 individual size cereals, 2 entrées, 2 snack packs, 1 fruit cup, 1 applesauce, 2 100% apple juice boxes, 2 shelf stable milk boxes, and 4 spoons. All food is nonperishable and provided to children free of charge. It is our hope these resources will support the health, behavior, and achievement of every student that participates.
The CDA Backpack Program was established to assist school age children whose families may be experiencing a financial hardship and do not have a dependable food source during the weekends and holiday vacations. Your child has been identified, by the staff at Skyway Elementary, as one who may benefit from the CDA Backpack Program.
The program is run completely by wonderful volunteers who pack and deliver the food packs to participating schools on a weekly basis. The program is funded solely through private donations, fundraising, and community grants. All monetary donations are used to purchase food for the weekly packs.
We look forward to working with staff, teachers, and community members to make this program a success for Skyway students in need!
