Volunteer in Our District

  • We value our volunteers! The time and talents of our families and our community are at the heart of our district! Have questions? Please contact our volunteer coordinator at email jspindler@cdaschools.org or call 208-664-8241 x10033.

    Types of Volunteers

Parent Volunteers: The vast majority of our volunteers are parents of students in the district wanting to help out for a few hours weekly, monthly or even annually in their child's classroom, at their school's office, or on a field trip.

Community Members: We have many volunteer opportunities across our district and welcome community members to sign up. We are also very lucky to have many North Idaho business, nonprofit and church groups who spend time assisting our schools.

Coach Volunteers: Athletic departments across our district utilize volunteer coaches to help with practices and games. Those who wish to assist with these programs in our districts may get more information by contacting the athletics director at a specific school.

    Volunteer Application Process
The district supports and encourages volunteers in our schools. Volunteers work in cooperation with schools to help in meeting the needs of children and the school staff. The final decision to accept or reject a volunteer applicant rests exclusively with the principal and/or volunteer coordinator.

    1. PASS A RAPTOR SCREENING:
All school visitors and volunteers will be run through our Raptor System upon entry to any school building at least once a school year (first visit). The Raptor software uses information from the visitor's driver’s license or state ID card to check the sex offender database from all 50 states, including Idaho, and saves their name in the data system.

    2. COMPLETE AN APPLICATION:
Volunteers will need to complete an application to volunteer in our buildings, click here for the CDA SD Volunteer Application

    3. PASS AN ADDITIONAL SCREENING:
The disclosure statement part of the application will be reviewed by the district Human Resources department, who will contact any applicant with questions or concerns.

    4. FOR UNSUPERVISED OR 10+ HOUR A WK VOLUNTEERS ONLY:
A fingerprint background check will also be required for all volunteers who will or may work with students unsupervised, or volunteer more than 10 hours each week in our schools.
