Open Enrollment Transfer Request

  • We have begun accepting transfer requests for the 2017-2018 school year as below.

PARENTS, PLEASE READ: Zoning is based on your home address – see current Attendance Zones for more detail. Any parents wishing to transfer their student(s) to a school outside their zoned area will need to submit an online application. Parents, you must provide transportation for approved transfer requests. Space for the 2017-2018 school year is limited in all schools and grade levels, and Open Enrollment Policy 3010 will be closely followed for all requests. Contact your home school or the District office for more information about transfer requests.

NOTE: This process is NOT for students wishing to attend one of our “application only” schools: Venture High School, Ramsey Magnet School and Sorensen Magnet School. Application links for transfer requests will appear below when the transfer window opens.

Applications by grade for the 2017-2018 School Year:

    In-District (K-5): START APPLICATION

Parents who wish to request a different elementary school for their student(s) for the 2017-2018 school year will need to complete the online application (available below after May 1) and submit. [Students on a current transfer DO NOT need to complete this process—you will receive the required “Intent to Enroll Form” from your school in May.]  Decisions regarding new transfers will be made no later than the end of August.

PLEASE NOTE: For the 2017-18 school year, Coeur d’Alene Public Schools will only approve a limited number of NEW enrollment transfer requests for grades K-5th, especially in the northwest region of our district. This is the result of our ongoing efforts to reduce the stress of overcrowding on our students, teachers, and facilities. We will further be limited by the strategic closing of classroom sections across the Northwest region to proactively distribute school populations, supported by the opening of the new Hayden Lake Center.

In-District Transition to Middle (into 6th): START APPLICATION  / 2nd Window: Deadline May 31

Parents who wish to request a different middle school than the school their student(s) has been zoned for will need to complete the online application via the link above and submit. Principals will meet in June to review ALL open enrollment requests. If your student is granted the transfer, the transferred school now becomes their home school.

Parents who wish to request a different middle school than the school their student(s) has been zoned for will need to complete the online application via the link above and submit. Principals will meet in June to review ALL open enrollment requests. If your student is granted the transfer, the transferred school now becomes their home school.

    In-District High School (9-12): START APPLICATION / 2nd Window: Deadline May 31

Principals will meet in June to review open enrollment requests. If your student is granted the transfer, the transferred school now becomes their home school.

Out of District Elementary School (K- 5): START APPLICATION

Due to increasing enrollment across the district we are no longer accepting K-5 transfer requests at this time for out-of-district families new to our district. However, out-of-district students currently attending Coeur d’Alene schools will be allowed to attend Coeur d’Alene schools. [Students on a current transfer DO NOT need to complete this process; just complete the required “Intent to Enroll” form from your school.] In addition, if your family has a student who is currently enrolled in our district, you may request an in-district transfer for another sibling for the 2017-2018 school year, using the online application (see link below). Siblings of currently enrolled of-of-district students will be accepted, if there is space available.  Decisions will be made no later than the end of August.
