Advanced Opportunities provide state aid for students to accelerate through their K-12 education and provide support to earn college credit in high school.
In the 2015-2016 school year, the SDE paid out more than 3 million dollars in state aid for students taking overload and dual credit courses, as well as college bearing/professional technical exams. This affected more than 12,000 students around the state. With new legislative changes now in effect, these programs will be easier to implement at the district level.
A new web-based application has been made available to all school districts, allowing students to sign up for state aide. Regional coordinators will continue to assist schools in smooth implementation of these programs.
