School Nurse at Woodland Middle School
Hello from the Health Room at Woodland Middle School!
I have been the School Nurse at WMS for the past nine years. I love it here! The staff, students, and families hold a very special place in my heart. In fact, both of my sons have attended WMS, and I have been lucky enough to be their School Nurse as well.
A little background info on me...
I graduated from Eastern Washington University and Intercollegiate Center for Nursing Education (now WSU College of Nursing) with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. I have experience in both Urology and OBGYN but found my home with CDA SD in 2008. I have worked in most of the CDA SD schools, either as their assigned School Nurse or as a substitute.
Kids of all ages are great, but there's just something about Middle Schoolers that I especially enjoy. Their senses of humor are really starting to develop, they are learning and growing so quickly, and are on the verge of being ready to take on the world!
The Health Room is a place of assessment and care for injuries & illness (both chronic and acute), education, support, comfort, and encouragement. My role as a professional School Nurse is to support your student so that they may reach their greatest academic potential. The bonus for me is that I am able to meet some amazing students and families along the way.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions, concerns, or changes in your child's health information. School Nursing is a collaborative effort between student, family, community, and the Nurse; and I look forward to hearing from you.
