Dan Kirkbride - iTech Specialist

  • Dan Kirkbride I began my career in Southern California as a middle school reading intervention teacher. After two years, I moved to a local high school and spent five more years as a high school English teacher, while working toward my Master's degree in Educational Technology. I currently work as the Instructional Technology Specialist for the Coeur d'Alene School District in Northern Idaho. 
     
    My days are spent working with teachers, learning new technologies, and hanging out with my wife, daughter, and son. We moved back to Idaho in 2012 and enjoy being back in the Pacific Northwest and close to family.
     
    I am honored to be able to work with teachers and students in the Coeur d'Alene School District to incorporate technology into classroom routines so students are actively engaged in thinking and learning. I am a proponent of student use of technology in the classroom and the use of cloud-based and Web 2.0 technologies. I see technology as a tool that teachers can, and should, use to engage students, help them build personal efficacy, as well as hone skills that will allow them to become productive and successful members of our society.

Kim Shandy - iTech Specialist

  • Kim Shandy I came to the Coeur d’Alene School District last year with a passion to support technology integration into daily lessons to enhance content delivery, increase student engagement, and prepare our children for the path of future employment opportunities!


    After earning my Bachelor’s in Psychology and teaching credential from San Diego State University, I taught multiple subjects K-8 for 12 years. During that time I earned my Master of Arts in Education/Administration & Supervision before taking a position as a technology coach. I loved seeing the joy on students’ faces as I was able to enhance my lessons through technology and the idea of helping other teachers do the same.


    When I am not working, I love spending time with my husband and our 4 children, ages 2-15, who keep our lives fun and busy. They are great resources, always letting me know what they and their peers enjoy throughout their school day. We are so grateful for the beautiful place we have to live in and all of the activities and experiences it provides.


    My goal is to provide the support teachers need in order to integrate the technology provided to them in their daily lessons. I enjoy meeting with teachers to discuss lesson planning, platforms, devices, and any support needed in order to make feel more comfortable taking risks to improve instruction.
