• My name is Andrea Neary (Naccarato) and I am excited for the opportunity to teach ALP reading again this year! Prior to teaching ALP and serving as the Assistant Principal, I taught 5th grade for 2 years and was the PYP Coordinator at Hayden Meadows. Meadows is my home and I feel blessed to work at such a wonderful school with dedicated teachers, supportive parents, and fun kids. Outside of school, you might find me riding my horse, hiking, fishing, trap shooting, running, kayaking, snowshoeing, rock climbing, reading, or spending time with friends and family.

Throughout the year class time will be spent on expanding vocabulary, examining Greek and Latin roots and studying word derivations. We will then look at ways to apply these skills in reading as well as other content areas. In addition to word study, we will also read and discuss novels as a whole class and through literature circles. Over the course of the trimester, we will inquire into themes and ideas which emerge from novels and promote creative thinking through writing and projects.
