Jacqueline Mercer
Hello 2nd-grade families and welcome to the 2023-24 school year!
My name is Jacqueline Mercer and I am a 2nd-grade teacher here at Ramsey Magnet School of Science. I received my Bachelors Degree from New York State University of Buffalo. I have been teaching in Idaho for 10 years. This will be my sixth year teaching 2nd grade. Previously, I taught Special Education for 4 years and before that I taught in an Early Education classroom in New York. I can't express how excited I am to be on this adventure with your children. I am committed to helping students achieve academically while nurturing their unconditional self-acceptance and emotional well-being. My goal is to create caring and empathetic students who develop a love of learning that lasts a lifetime. I believe that students need to feel comfortable working, exploring, taking risks, and learning; therefore, I want my students to think of our classroom as a second home.
About me:
I grew up in New York and love to go back and visit, but Coeur d'Alene became our home 16 years ago and we love it. We have a 2 year old golden retriever named Finn and he keeps us very happy and busy. When I am not teaching or playing at the river with Finn, I love reading, hiking, playing with my nieces and nephews, and baking. My husband and I love football and hockey and are always rooting for our NY teams (Go Bills!).
