• Wolfpack Student Leadership    Paw

    What is Wolfpack?

Wolfpack is a student leadership team designed for 4th and 5th grade students that was created at Winton in 2020 that promotes student leadership school-wide. It provides opportunities for students to demonstrate their talents, skills, and interests, while continuing to develop new skills.

    Why is student leadership important?

    • Student leaders empower themselves, their classmates and their school community

    • Student leadership helps students take ownership of their school

    • Student leadership builds and strengthens the sense of community and school spirit

    • Research shows that students perform better academically, socially, and emotionally when they are meaningfully engaged at school

    Who runs wolfpack?

Our staff leaders are responsible for ensuring that students can safely participate in leadership opportunities at school. Our staff leaders are committed to leading, teaching, and fostering positive experiences for our student leaders.

    Staff leaders:

    • Mrs. Lovitt- ALP Teacher

    • Miss Bri- Counselor

    Expectations of our student leaders

Below are expectations of all students who are selected to be Wolfpack leaders:

    • Students must be in good academic standing

    • Students must have good attendance

    • Students must have a positive attitude

    • Students must have a willingness to help others

    • Students must be willing to maintain their job for the duration of the school year

    • Students must be willing to give up one afternoon recess per month to attend a leadership meeting

    Applications & selections

Applications will be posted the third week of school and 4th and 5th grade students are encouraged to apply. Applications will be reviewed by the staff leaders and students will be selected the following week. The applications need to be completed by the student and signed by the teacher and parent.

    Leadership meetings and parent involvement

We will have monthly leadership meetings that will focus on skill development and collaboration. The leadership meetings will be held on the first Monday of each month at 2:45 in the ALP room. Students will miss part of their recess for this meeting.

What if the student doesn’t like their job?

Although students are encouraged to apply for jobs they’re passionate about and can agree to commit to, they are permitted to end their job at any time. However, they will not be guaranteed another job position.

    End of the year celebration

We want to celebrate our student leaders! We will have an end-of-year celebration to recognize all of our student leaders and their hard work.  Parents/guardians are invited and encouraged to attend.
