WELCOME TO CDA ESCHOOL
School starts, September 14, 2020.
Coeur d’Alene Public Schools is launching an optional online school for enrolled students in kindergarten through high school. CdA eSchool will be a learning program for families wanting an alternative to traditional classroom instruction. Click here to view the eSchool program flyer.
This stand-alone school will offer rigorous K-12 instruction in all core content areas and basic electives, presented in a fully online format. Educators from the Coeur d’Alene School District will serve as the teachers for the online program. The occasional class may be offered through the Idaho Digital Learning Alliance or a similar vendor. The District will provide each student with a Chromebook to support their online learning.
Hello eSchool Families!
We want to provide a few updates on our preparations for the start of this school year (Sept. 14). We are sure you have questions beyond what we’re addressing today, and please know that we will keep in touch with you over the coming weeks with more information.
We truly appreciate your patience and flexibility as we design and build this school from the ground up. When we closed student registration for eSchool on Monday, we ended up with just over 1,300 students, from Kindergarten through high school. This week we have been busy hiring additional teachers to fill out our staff at the elementary and secondary levels. Everyone on our eSchool team is excited and eager to begin this journey with your children.
Classes and Schedules: Counselors at all of our schools are working with us to create class rosters and schedules, and we hope to have that work done for all students by the end of next week. We will send you an email when we have those details ready to share.
VERY IMPORTANT DATE: Curriculum Materials, Chromebooks and School Photos: You will be able to pick up textbooks and curriculum resources that your student will need to begin fall semester, and check out a Chromebook if you requested one, on September 9, 10 or 11 at the former Hayden Lake School building, 9650 N. Government Way, in Hayden. (This most recently was the home of Northwest Expedition Academy.) We also will have a professional photo studio there on those three days for students’ fall photos, which schools will use for yearbooks and which you have the option of purchasing, just as any other school year.
Please plan to bring your student(s) to this site according to the following schedule:
GRADES K-4: Wednesday, Sept. 9, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
(If you have students at different levels, you may bring all of them in at the same time. If you are not able to attend on Wednesday or Thursday, please come in on Friday.)
When you registered for eSchool, you told us if your student will need a Chromebook. If you indicated you do not need a device, but now you would like a chromebook, please let us know HERE.
School Supplies: Our eSchool elementary teachers have created school supply lists for their classrooms. You can find those lists HERE. Secondary teachers will post their supply lists on their class syllabus, which students will receive the first week of school.
Seniors and Graduation: A few families have asked us if seniors in eSchool this year will still participate in graduation ceremonies with their classmates at their home school (Coeur d’Alene High, Lake City High or Venture High). The answer is yes, we do want to make sure they keep that connection to their friends and peers and have that opportunity to be part of all commencement activities at the end of this year.
Teachers in our eSchool will use the same curriculum as our physical classrooms. Here's an overview of the curriculum by grade level:
