Welcome to my page. I have an exciting year planned for your child in 1st grade! This is my seventeenth year teaching elementary education, and my fifth year teaching 1st grade. I also have experience teaching at the college level. I graduated with honors from the University of Montana with a bachelor's degree in 2006.  Shortly after graduating, my husband and I moved to Coeur d'Alene to be closer to our loving family.  I have two busy boys ages 10 and 11, and I enjoy skiing, camping, hiking, biking, and spending my summers at the lake. Living in North Idaho has been a wonderful experience, and I am excited to share my love of nature and science with your child.

We will be learning many exciting things this year. Our curriculum is fast-paced, fun, engaging, task-oriented, and proven to be successful.  Regular classroom attendance and arriving at school on time are crucial in order to make the most of our classroom learning time. This will be a challenging and exciting year for all of us, but I know that your child can and will succeed!

My teaching philosophy is student-centered with a positive approach to learning. I believe that hands-on activities and manipulatives are essential elements to learning, and having fun is of utmost importance!  I do not believe in busy work and only use worksheets as they benefit our curriculum goals. I teach through thematic units, cooperative learning, hands-on learning, projects, and music. I make it a point to give each and every student respect and fairness, and I ask the same from them in return.

I encourage you to check out the attachments and other useful information on this site. Also, please feel free to contact me with any questions about your child's learning experience. I am really looking forward to working with you!
