KCYP Top 30 Under 40 Winner of the Day: Andrea Neary
is the Assistant Principal and Advanced Learning Teacher at Hayden Meadows and occasionally teaches adjunct classes in both the undergraduate and graduate programs at Whitworth University. Prior to her current position, she was a 5th grade teacher and Primary Years Programme Coordinator (elementary division of International Baccalaureate) at Hayden Meadows. Much of her time outside the school setting is spent mentoring students through WYLDLIFE, the middle school version of Young Life. As part of this program, she is the team leader for the large group clubs which meet twice a month as well planning and facilitating small groups for 6th grade, 7th grade, and 8th grade girls.
We so appreciate the local businesses who so generously support education. Our school recently received a $500 grant from the Kerr Oil Company to support math & science education in our school. Thank you to the ExxonMobil Educational Alliance for providing this grant opportunity!
Box Tops for Education are always being collected by our school. Each Box Top is worth .10 cents which adds up quickly! Money from the box top program helps pay for recess & playground equipment. Watch for our collection contests which are held throughout the school year! (Please Note: We no longer collect Campbells' soup labels as this program is no longer in existence).
Please join us the 2nd Monday of every month at 10:00am in room 106. Come find out what is happening at our school and how you can get involved. All parents welcome!
When you walk through the doors of Hayden Meadows Elementary you will experience an environment where students are respectful and principled, engaged in the learning process, and inquiring further into concepts they are studying. Our teachers work hard to make learning fun and meaningful.
Our staff is dedicated to providing a quality education that is positive, challenging, and rewarding. We value the role parents’ play in the educational process and realize it is critical to work together to provide the very best educational opportunities we can for our students!
What makes Hayden Meadows unique?
We are a school with a technology emphasis. Our school consists of a one-to-one iPad or Chromebook implementation for students in third, fourth and fifth grade, sets of iPads and computers are in every classroom. We have one technology lab and several mobil labs and a videoconferencing system utilized for virtual field trips.
We have a self-sustaining greenhouse project managed entirely by Hayden Meadow students and staff. Each student has the opportunity to work in our greenhouse throughout the year, planting, watering, and measuring growth. In the spring students see their hard work come to fruition, taking an active role in our annual plant sale, developing customer service and money handling skills. We are extremely proud of our students and the ownership they take of our greenhouse.
