Hello, Parents and Students!  

Welcome to Woodland Middle School 6th Grade Social Studies!  My name is Nola Shanley, and this is my 8th year as a Social Studies teacher at Woodland, but my 22nd year as a Social Studies/Social Sciences classroom teacher. I earned both my BA degree in Social Sciences and my Secondary Teaching Credential from California Lutheran University. I enjoy art, music, cinema, cooking, reading, and spending time with my wonderful family. I am passionate about my subject matter, and I am especially intrigued and fascinated with the exploration of the very personal and human stories that Social Studies has to offer.  I am looking forward to a wonderful year working with you and your student! Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me via the information on this website.  The preferred way to contact me is via email: nshanley@cdaschools.org
