I earned a BS in Social Science from Lewis Clark State College. I graduated Magna cum laude and am certified to teach all history/government classes grades 6-12. I have also attended classes at N.I.C and the U of I.
I teach seventh grade World Cultures. As a component of my class, we discuss current events and tie those events to topics we are discussing in class.
I retired from the US Army in 2003. After I retired I completed my teaching degree and have been at Canfield ever since. I have traveled extensively and have been introduced to countless cultures from around the world.
My wife and I have been together for 35 years. We have two grown children and two grandsons. We also have an operational farm (my second full-time job) where my wife and I raise Aberdeen cattle, angora goats, sheep, chickens, turkeys, geese, hogs, dogs, parrots, ferrets, and a partridge in the pear tree. We have just recently added an apiary (Honey Bees) to our farm. We also raise hay and produce crops.
My farming experience, my travels, and my time in the service of our nation have given me a unique perspective that has proven invaluable in teaching my students about the world's various cultures, resource usage, and the history of our global community.
