Marimbas!

Welcome to Mrs. Sorenson's Music! This is my seventh year of teaching music at Winton. I am looking forward to another exciting year of making music with all of my students. Our Marimba Ensemble meets on Tuesday mornings, from 8:00 - 8:45.
This year, I am also teaching at Bryan Elementary, where we have started a marimba group there, too. Through an EXCEL grant, we were able to make some marimbas for the school. You can see some of the progress in the making of the marimbas through these pictures.	Bob Ickes cuts out marimba bars from toxic padauk wood. Protection from breathing the dust is a must!

Mrs. Sorenson and Eileen Ickes use dust filters, also, while doing preliminary tuning on the marimba bars.	Mrs. Sorenson does some final tuning on one of the marimbas.

Mrs. Sorenson works on resonators for the bass marimba.	Eileen and Bob fit the resonators to the frame.

Bob varnishes the marimba frame.

Special Chorus!

Special Chorus is a combined Winton/Bryan Special Chorus that meets at Bryan
Elementary on Thursday mornings from 8:00 - 8:45. Every third, fourth and fifth
grader is encouraged to come and join us!
