Welcome to kindergarten at Winton School! We begin our year with Jumpstart which is a small group introduction to kindergarten for both students and parents.  This takes place a few days before school starts.

We learn a lot in kindergarten!  Some themes we study include:  weather, seasons, holidays, families, friends, plants, butterflies and bugs.  We focus a great deal on learning our letters, sounds, phonics (beginning sounds and rhyming), counting to 110, numbers and patterns.

There are different learning centers and math stations that the children are free to choose from during specified times of the day.  Kindergarteners come to school for a half day.  Some of the students are invited to stay for a full day in our extended day kindergarten program.  This program offers extra support with reading skills in a smaller class setting.

We welcome you to join us for the all school bbq/open house in September, the fall festival in October, classroom parties throughout the year, Dinner and a Book and our music program in the spring.  We also love family helpers in the classroom!
