Meet Edie Brooks, Board Chair
School Board Chair Edie Brooks served on the Board from 1996-2004 for Zone 4, the last three years as Idaho School Boards Association representative on the State Professional Standards Commission. Previously, she served five years as Sorensen PTO President. She was instrumental in forming the District's Advanced Learning Program and adding Advanced Placement classes at the high schools. Edie was elected for a three-year term in 2006 and re-elected in 2009. She is a Realtor at Lakeshore Realty in Coeur d'Alene. She has three sons, and the youngest, Joe Brooks. graduated from Lake City High in 2003 and USC in 2007. She enjoys hiking, swimming, bridge and traveling (especially to visit her granddaughter.)

Meet Vern Newby, Board Vice Chair
Vern Newby has been active with the Coeur d'Alene District for over 20 years. This is his 19th year as a trustee and is currently Board Vice Chair. He is a past president of the Idaho School Boards Association. He is also active in SPEAK - Supporters of Public Education and Kids. He and his wife, Kristine, have five children; all are graduates of the Coeur d'Alene School District. Vern has worked for Avista Utilities for 28 years. His hobbies include photography, hiking, cycling, swimming and jogging. He completed his first Ironman in 2006.

Meet Bill Hemenway
Rev. William Hemenway was appointed in August as Zone 3 trustee. He has a longtime interest in education and years of community service. While pastor of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Coeur d'Alene from 1975 to 1994, he was on the boards of the American Cancer Society, EXCEL Foundation, Chamber of Commerce and Kootenai Medical Center ethics review committee. He is currently on the Board of Directors of Hospice of North Idaho. He and his wife, Sue, have two sons who graduated from Coeur d'Alene schools and now have a grandchild in the school system.

Meet Diane Zipperer
Diane Zipperer was appointed to the Board in July 2004 and elected to a three-year term in 2005, and again in 2008. She has been active as a parent volunteer for many years, including serving as Sorensen PTO president. She served on the Long Range Planning Committee for three years and on the Advanced Learning Committee for two years. She is a structural engineer. She and her husband, Jim, have two children - a graduate of Lake City High School who is currently enrolled at the University of Washington, and a junior at Lake City High School.

Meet Sid Fredrickson
H.Sid Fredrickson was appointed to the Board in January of 2002 and elected to a three-year term in 2005 and again in 2008. He was raised and educated in Montana and taught in public schools three years before entering the engineering field. He currently is wastewater superintendent of the City of Coeur d'Alene. He and his wife, Birdee, enjoy camping and exploring the beautiful Mountain West. Their two children and a foster daughter live in the area. Seven of 11 grandchildren are enrolled in the Coeur d'Alene School District.
