Arts and Humanities

Sorensen Magnet School has an extended school day, starting at 8:15am and ending at 3:15pm, as opposed to the traditional 8:55am start time.  This extra block of time allows us to have a weekly Arts and Humanity Block, Monday through Thursday.

During this block, your child will gain exposure and experience in a variety of arts and humanities genres.  Each classroom rotates through a nine-week cycle in which he or she gains exposure to a variety of instruction and experiences.  When a complete cycle has finished, the students get to start all over with new projects and deeper understandings!

Rotations started Monday, September 9th, 2008.  The current Arts and Humanities rotations include:

  • Technology- Mrs. Marshall and Mrs. Schreiber

  • Juggling- Mr. Groth and Ms. Raquel

  • African Drumming- Mr. Helbling

  • Marimbas- Mr. Cox

  • Social Arts- Ms. Moat and Mrs. Hamm

  • Movement and Dance- Mrs. Vindasius

  • Theater- Ms. Clemons

  • Cultural Games- Mr. DuCoeur

  • Pottery- Mrs. Pfau, Mrs. Longmeier, and Mrs. Walters

  • Comedy Improv- Mrs. Palmer

Ask your child what they are learning about this week!
