A message from the Ramsey Third Grade Teachers Ramsey Third Graders are life long learners, critical thinkers, and problem solvers. We are a school community where we live, work, learn and play together. Students are accountable for getting their work completed on time and upholding behavioral expectations. In addition, our students explore concepts in science, geography, and current events, both in our world and community, through the Scholastic Newspaper. Our language arts program is referred to as a Balanced Literacy Model. It consists of writing, word study, guided reading, and self-selected reading. Through our MacMillian/Mcgraw-Hill anthology and spotlight books we study fairy tales, fiction, and non-fiction genres. By using manipulatives, the children receive a firm foundation of math concepts. Their skills are developed with everyday math activities which include computation challenges like Mad Minutes and our Concept Board. Critical thinking skills are explored through problem solving. All of these areas are supported through our learning community; school, home and city. |
