Our library has over 15,000 books for students to check
out and read. Mrs. Valiquette reads some of them to us and lets us
check them out to read by ourselves. Older students can check out
two books, one of them has to be at their reading level. After
reading a book students can take an AR test to check how well we
remember. Each book has a different number of possible points
depending on level, length, difficulty and accuracy in completing the
test.
FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY
The Library appreciates our many volunteers who come in and donate their time to read with the children on a weekly basis. The children and the volunteers both enjoy a new friendship and good books together.
THIRD QUARTER INCENTIVES
In the third quarter each child who reads the required
hours or earns the required points,
will receive a free day pass to Silverwood. This is a big incentive to
increase the amount of reading. The Library's circulation has over 8,000
accelerated reader books. Students
who log their reading on the Reading is the Ticket form need to read 600 minutes with a parent
signature for each session.
Students who want to read for AR points need to
increase their quarterly AR points to: 5th grader -- 40 points 4th grader -- 35 points 3rd grader -- 30 points
2nd grader -- 25 points
All points and ticket forms must be
turned in by March 21st
Required AR points per Quarter
5th grader--20 points
4th grader--20 points
3rd grader--15 points
2nd grader--10 points
1st grader--5 points
