A Message from Fourth Grade

Fourth graders at Ramsey have the time of their life while working hard to meet the expectations of their teachers and parents. They learn about the diverse history of Idaho and enjoy several related field trips including visits to a silver mine, the Cataldo Mission and a daylong frontier experience at Camp Lutherhaven. They apply this knowledge in a Hyper Studio multimedia presentation.

Their study of math has real world applications of basic skills. It also has many hands-on activities and creative problem solving opportunities that prepare them for the Idaho Direct Math Assessment. In science, they explore such diverse topics as electricity, rocks and minerals, and the digestive system.

Fourth graders at Ramsey love to read, this is obvious by the many Accelerated Reader books that are read during the school year. The Accelerated Reader program keeps fourth graders accountable for their independent reading and allows the teachers to track individual growth. All that reading helps students to be better writers. They have the opportunity to test their writing skills by using the Six Traits of Writing during the Idaho Direct Writing Assessment. Another highlight of the year is biography time when students choose a famous person to read about, write about, and become during an oral presentation.

Don't you wish you were a fourth grader at Ramsey?
