A message from the Ramsey first grade teachers

HI! At Ramsey, First Graders say, "Everyone can play." We work hard to get along and be kind to one another on the playground and in class. 

In first grade we spend lots of time READING, READING, READING and WRITING, WRITING, WRITING at school and at home. We do many daily activities using our first grade "wall words." This helps us learn many sight words as well as word families. We know that's how we'll become good learners.

In class we read and write about exciting topics like animals, families, and Australia. We have an exciting science and social studies curriculum this year. We have had fun doing experiments and projects. In math, we are part of the Ramsey Mad Minute program and we have a concept board. We also use manipulatives and do problem solving activities.

Every month we celebrate what we have learned by having a First Grade Fun Day. We even have special shirts that we wear!

We love being First Graders at Ramsey. You would too!
