As Ramsey's counselor since 1991, I've been working on implementing the Idaho Comprehensive School Counseling Program Model. I teach classroom guidance units on getting along and solving conflicts using Peace Education Foundation materials. We also have a Conflict Manager program where 4th & 5th grade students are trained to help younger students resolve some of their playground problems. I teach Career Awareness to the 4th, & 5th grade students using Career Trek from Career Information Systems (CIS) and coordinate a half day Career Day where we have speakers from the community tell us about their occupations. I provide counseling to individuals and facilitate small groups on such topics as: Divorce/Separation, Anger Management, Study Skills, Social Skills, Making and Keeping Friends, Grief/Loss. I coordinate the district/state testing for our building and our Emergency Response Plan. But mostly I sell SMILES to students and staff whenever they need one. |
