Message from the Principal
Jim Ferguson Welcome to the Project CDA Website! Project CDA is a fully accredited alternative middle and high school. It is designed to help struggling students to become academically and socially successful. Project CDA provides conventional core classes, but also has an exceptional Professional Technical Education department. Project prides itself in providing classes in Family and Consumer Sciences such as Teen Living, Adult Living, Foods and Nutrition, and Child Development; classes in Technology such as AutoCAD, Manufacturing, Construction and computer science. We have classes that provide occupational training in Food Production and Management Services (Restaurant Occupations), Early Childhood Professions (Child Care Occupations) and the construction trades. The school has a career center open to all the students where they can learn about occupations, job openings, and further education opportunities in colleges and universities. We have a fully licensed child care center which provides child care for children of students attending Project CDA and provides training for those students interested in careers working with children. We emphasize community projects and many other stimulating alternative ways to learn academics and valued life skills. Project CDA teachers are dedicated professionals second to none. The average teaching experience of our teachers is 15 years. This helps insure an equal learning opportunity to all of our students. Project CDA’s smaller class size allows us to be more innovative, flexible, and supportive to student’s learning style and needs. With our smaller student teacher ratio student accountability increases and it also increases the opportunity for learning and developing skills necessary for success in the workplace and life. At Project CDA academic competency is a priority; nevertheless, in order to increase the likelihood of success Project promotes life skills, resiliency, responsibility and accountability. Teaching students how to make independent healthy choices is as important as academics. With the combination of these two components the probability of success is greatly enhanced. More than ever parents and students are looking for alternative solutions to learning and receiving a quality education. Project CDA believes we all (parents, students, teachers) have a part of the answer. We highly encourage parents to be involved. Project CDA communicates clear expectations and promote accountability through attendance and earned grades. It is our intent to prepare students academically and socially for their future in our community. It is our goal to cultivate positive attitudes in students that will produce productive individuals. It is our mission to create a school culture of community that will help students optimize and discover their full potential. "We are the alternative approach to convention."
