Policy Review/Adoption Process
Policies are continually being updated and revised as deemed necessary by the District, Board of Trustees or State and Federal law. Also, there may be a need for the creation of new policies. When a policy, or need for a new policy, is reviewed or discussed, the following process takes place:
- The policy goes to a development/review committee where drafts/revisions/creation takes place.
- The Board receives revisions/suggestions from Policy Development/Review Committee for information (public comment available).
- Revised policy goes out for a 30-day comment period to each school site and is posted on District website.
- All comments are reviewed and discussed with Development/Review Committee.
- Policies are then submitted to a Policy Advisory Committee. This committee is Board-appointed and members include Board Chair or designee, 2 parents, 3 high school students, 2 community members, 2 principals, 1 assistant principal, 1 Coeur d’Alene Education Association representative, 2 teachers, and 1 classified staff member.
- Policy goes to Board for a 2nd reading (public comment available) – New Policy may be adopted here.
